The Power of the Moon: 

The Moon is our second Luminary, the second brightest body in the sky and ruling the night sect. In astrological magic, the Moon is cold and moist and is known as the ‘mediatrix’. She is the swiftest of the 7 planetary governors, making a full orbit through the zodiac every 28 days. And she is the planet that transmits the celestial will upon us and is the cause of the world’s generation as well as its corruption. She is in the first sphere above the Earth and therefore influences us the most. We entreat the Moon for increasing or decreasing just as she does in her light. Like the Sun, she only has one domicile, which is the sign of Cancer. The Moon obviously does very well here being such a cold and moist sign. This election was particularly unique as we have Jupiter here for the first time in 12 years. Anywhere Jupiter is, he expands the themes and natures of the sign and the planets around him. In this case, the Moon is also waxing. So we have a lot of powerful build up: domicile Moon, angular, conjoined Jupiter, a benefic, in his exaltation, and even an aspect to the other benefic, Venus.

The Election

Challenges: There are only two slight challenges here. Firstly, the Moon is applying to a detriment planet, Venus. This means the talisman cannot be used for anything related to love or sex. Though, Venus is dignified by face/decan so in actuality, this may not even affect you. The second challenge, the Moon is in aspect with a malefic. Luckily, an aspect to a malefic is not so bad if it is of a harmonious nature, of which the trine to Mars is.

The Ritual

Offerings to Luna included: 8 white candles, a white ethically sourced rabbits pelt, spring water, eggs, milk, bread, honey, and a sweet white wine. 

The suffumigation: camphor, sandalwood, willow bark, frankincense, mugwort, poppyseeds, white clover, chamomile, jasmine, and lignum aloes.
